Happy New Year! I want to start off by wishing you all a great year ahead and luck with all of your resolutions. I didn’t make a weight loss or sugar reduction resolutions because, let’s be honest, that wouldn’t be so successful when I have a baking blog. But, one of my resolutions this year is to devote more energy to my My Nana’s Kitchen, as it seems like you all out there really like my stuff! So I’ve added Instagram to my repertoire (of Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest) to give you photos of baking, food, cooking, my dog, and everything else grandmothers teach you! I encourage you to follow/like me on any or all of these social media mediums, and I promise to be more active with them than ever. Now, onto the recipe: this is my favourite chocolate chip cookie recipe, the fine ground oatmeal really makes a difference, hope you enjoy!
Chocolate Chip Cookies

- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups oatmeal, blended to a fine powder
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 cups chocolate chips
Directions
Preheat oven to 375oF.
Cream butter and sugars together. Add eggs and vanilla.
In a medium bowl, mix flour, powdered oatmeal, baking powder, and baking soda.
Incorporate the dry ingredients slowly into the wet ingredients. Stir in the chocolate chips.
Roll into/scoop balls and place 2 inches apart on a non-stick or parchment lined baking sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes, do not overbake or they will be hard. Enjoy!

Thank you!
I have to admit I’ve never ventured from the toll house chocolate chip cookies. What do the oats bring to the table?
They bring a great flavour and mouthfeel!
