As the true Canadian, I believe maple syrup is the liquid of the gods (or something close to that!). When combined with bourbon and pecans, which go so well together on their own, this recipe was definitely a crowd-pleaser. I wanted to make a different pecan pie, so I found a couple recipes where I liked a bit of this and a bit of that and came up with the following. Scroll down for more pictures, hope you enjoy! I cook with lemon all the time, but I rarely bake with it, and I thought it was about time to change that! I set out to find the perfect lemon bars – a recipe that wasn’t too sweet but still really showed off the tangy lemon flavour – and these are the result. Everyone loves apple picking, but what do you do with all those apples once you get home? You bake with them! This light cake is brightened with a hint of lemon and stands out with it’s apple layer. Scroll down for more pictures, hope you enjoy!
Every now and then you need something over-the-top, something decadent, something that makes you say ‘OMG’. When you’re next in one of those moods, this is the recipe for you. This recipe is delicious and definitely a crowd pleaser, if you’re nice enough to share. Hope you enjoy!
This recipe is so easy and delicious, it’s a great one to have up your sleeve. It’s very versatile – great as a snack, perfect as a gift, even bring it to a dinner party for dessert! My only note is that I recommend you keep it refrigerated until serving, as the chocolate has a better snap that way. Hope you enjoy!
This tart is all about pairs – lemon and blueberry are perfect partners, and the crunchy top from the brûléed sugar balances out the buttery crust. It takes time, but it’s a perfect dessert to bring out and wow your dinner guests. Hope you enjoy!
By the way, new year, new look! What do you think?
I love chocolate and I love coconut, put them together and I am very happy. This recipe is not only simple and delicious, it is dairy and gluten free, so it’s a crowd pleaser for everyone. Hope you enjoy!
Coconut Caramel Brownies…need I say more?! These were ooey, gooey, chocolately, chewy, goodness. My only warning, other than hide these from friends or family because they will disappear, is to read this ‘How to Caramelize Sugar‘ before starting if you’re not super comfortable with wet caramelizaiton (because even I wasn’t and messed up and had to start from scratch a second time). Enjoy!
This blog is in honour of my Nana and back in July I was really happy to share my first recipe of her’s, Nana’s Date Squares. When I eat at restaurants, bakeries, friends, or even other members of my family’s, I always love to see people serving their family recipes. I feel that it’s a great way of keeping our loved ones with us, and brings out a sense of pride about oneself and the dish. This recipe comes from my family friend Sharon’s mother and it’s delicious, hope you enjoy! Continue reading
This is a special recipe, it is the first recipe of my Nana’s that I am posting on My Nana’s Kitchen. Since I had been baking with her for so long, at one point she wrote down a bunch of her recipes for me, some from even her grandmother. As you can see in the image below, it’s hand written on a cue card in her unique handwriting, and is a recipe that I will always cherish. Continue reading
