I don’t often post salads, so when I do you know it’s good! I got a sneak peak of some recipes of dishes that will be at Taste of Toronto this week, and this one stood out. I tweaked it just a bit to better suit the home cook. It is a great, garlicky Caesar salad with a twist that will make you want seconds. Hope you enjoy! Continue reading

Olive Garden Breadsticks Copycat Recipe
I’m a ‘carbivore’ (yes I made that word up), I love carbs and will eat them any way possible. So when I found this recipe that claimed to be as good as the restaurant version, I had to try it – and I’m glad I did! Bread can be tricky to make, but this recipe creates a fluffy and versatile breadstick that is definitely worth your time. Hope you enjoy! Continue reading
Ricotta Gnocchi with Greens and Cream
I love gnocchi, it’s my favourite pasta. Years ago, I ate my way through Italy and had to have gnocchi every single day; if I didn’t have it at lunch, I had to have it for dinner. There was a bit of a disaster a few years ago when I tried to make gnocchi from scratch, but when I saw this recipe I knew I had to try again. The gnocchi and the sauce are delicious, but I also use this recipe just for the gnocchi and switch up the saucy component. Hope you enjoy!

Awesome No-Bake Medjool Date Bars
I’ve got quite a sweet tooth and love food, which means that I’m often snacking on chocolate, cookies and other sweet things that aren’t exactly great for me. When I made my Nana’s Date Square recipe, I discovered that I really like Medjool dates, which is awesome because they’re a great and natural way to sweeten recipes – they’re even a great source of antioxidants! I set out to make a healthier snack and created these awesome, no-bake, Medjool date bars. The Medjool dates and apples hold the bars together, and the coconut, puffed quinoa and Marcona almonds really add great flavour. They’re perfect for any time, anywhere – hope you enjoy! Judith’s Blueberry Bramble Coffee Cake
This blog is in honour of my Nana and back in July I was really happy to share my first recipe of her’s, Nana’s Date Squares. When I eat at restaurants, bakeries, friends, or even other members of my family’s, I always love to see people serving their family recipes. I feel that it’s a great way of keeping our loved ones with us, and brings out a sense of pride about oneself and the dish. This recipe comes from my family friend Sharon’s mother and it’s delicious, hope you enjoy! Continue reading

Lessons From a Food Blog
I’ve been working on My Nana’s Kitchen for just over a year and a half now, and there are a lot of lessons I’ve learned from it. These lessons come up in conversation enough that I realized that you might want to know about them too, so here they are: Continue reading
Cookie Cutter Perfect Sugar Cookies
I was asked to make cookies for a friend’s Oscar party so I found this recipe that is perfect for using cookie cutters. I couldn’t find a Oscar award shaped cookie cutter in such a short time period, so I got one 3D printed – it is so cool! A huge thank you to Klever at DreamQii for printing it for me. These cookies are great for all shapes, sizes and toppings, hope you enjoy! Continue reading
The $750 Decadence D’Or Cupcake
I saw a blog listing the 10 most expensive desserts in the world, and despite my rational side telling my sweet tooth that they were ridiculous, I still wanted them. Check out the post yourself here and you’ll to see what I mean. In order to not spend thousands of dollars, I decided to make my own. So I give you my version of the $750 Decadence D’Or Cupcake.
