I was asked to make cookies for a friend’s Oscar party so I found this recipe that is perfect for using cookie cutters. I couldn’t find a Oscar award shaped cookie cutter in such a short time period, so I got one 3D printed – it is so cool! A huge thank you to Klever at DreamQii for printing it for me. These cookies are great for all shapes, sizes and toppings, hope you enjoy!
Sugar Cookies
Ingredients
- 1½ cups butter, softened
- 2 cups white sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 5 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
Directions
In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar. Beat in eggs and vanilla until lumps are smaller than pebble size.
In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder and salt. Incorporate the dry mixture into the wet batter. Cover and chill the dough for at least one hour (or overnight).
Preheat oven to 400oF. Roll out dough onto lightly floured surface to ¼-inch thickness. Use desired cookie cutter to cut shapes and place 1 inch apart on ungreased or parchment paper lined cookie sheets. Bake 6-8 minutes and cool completely before decorating.
